Check out this Review of the latest release ‘Built Upon The Sand’ by band House on Solid RockΒ
House on Solid Rock is an alternative rock band with a groundbreaking and edgy sound. Their music will certainly please fans of artists like punk, grunge and indie rock, making for a very special combination of energy and melody.
Recently, the band set out to release a new project tiled βBuilt Upon The Sand.β This brand new wok is actually an EP, featuring 5 original songs. Opening number βYou, Not I (What I Want)β has a melodic, yet gritty approach, and it almost makes me think of bands such as Cloud Nothings, Dinosaur Jr. or Car Seat Headrest, only to mention but a few. The guitar tones are abrasive, yet warm and organic, making for a really unique feel. The following track, βRevivify,β follows along the same line, yet it has a more melodic and somewhat catchy approach. If you are a fan of artists the likes of Weezer or Superchunk, you might definitely enjoy this one! The third song on the EP is titled βNot Alone,β and it definitely gives of a slightly different vibe.
This is the bandβs shortest track (at least on this release) and it combines personal lyrics with a very upfront, organic sound and a slightly vintage feel, tipping the hat off to artists such as The Beatles or The Kinks. The closing duo, Β βThe Gift (Of Your Mercy)β and βUnited (We Are Oneβ is absolutely remarkable, because these two tracks are quite different from one another, yet they maintain a cohesive and direct approach.
