OC from NC – It’s not You, it’s me (Review)

OF from NC - It's not You, it's me (Review)

Check out this music review of the newly released album, ‘It’s Not You, It’s Me’  from OC from NC

OC from NC is a hip-hop artist hailing from North Carolina. He recently released a brand new album named “It’s Not You, It’s Me.”

The songs on this release are very energetic, yet they also have a personal edge to it. OC is not afraid of igniting his lyrics with personal theme, often exploring charismatic phrasings and edgy word turns. His lyrical style is very meaningful, but it is also quite direct and dynamic, making for a unique, forward-thinking feel.

The album features 13 songs, and there are many exciting highlights through this release. For example, “Lost” (feat. Maestra) has a cool jazz-tinged tone with an old-school feel. On the other hand, “Focus” has a grittier twist with a crunchy beat and a larger-than-life flow. These are only a couple of examples from an incredibly diverse album!

“It’s Not You, It’s Me” is a perfect introduction to OC’s charisma and talent. He is always able to capture the listener’s attention with his flow, and with the production value of his releases. The sonic aesthetics that fuel these songs are the perfect combination between the sound of the golden age of the genre (think 1990s!) and the punch of the modern age. Right off the bat, OC’s vocal style makes me think of artists like Nas, Jay Z, and 50 Cent, but modern icons like Kendrick Lamar or Jay Cole also come to mind!

“It’s Not You, It’s Me” ticks all the right boxes, accomplishing what a great rap album should actually bring to the table. It is really all about great energy, clever lyrics, punchy beats and good melodies!

Check out this release, and don’t miss out on more works from the artist:
