The Melissa June Band is a country-folk group based out in New York. Their sound is earthy, direct, and emotional, with direct melodies that explore personal themes and honest lyrics.
Melissa is a tasteful songwriter who knows how to tell more with less. Her songs are stories, like chapters in a book about a journey called life. She’d often sing about love, family, passion, hopes, dreams, hardships and good times, giving the audience a genuine and extremely kaleidoscopic feel.
The group’s most recent release, Never Would Have Known is actually a great example of what I am talking about, as the project gives an insight into Melissa’s songwriting sensibilities, and her personality as a human and an artist.
