Alan Goldsher proudly presents new single, ‘Jean-Pierre’
Of Miles Davis, bassist/keyboardist/producer Alan Goldsher says, “My biggest musical influence, period.”
He’s not the only one.
For Volume 5 of the increasingly popular Gold Note Records Singles Club, Goldsher (Digable Planets, Janet Jackson, Naughty By Nature, Cypress Hill) reimagined the trumpeter’s funk/fusion classic with a hip-hop groove and a ’70s aesthetic.
“This one grooves from beginning to end,” Goldsher says, “and, like many of Miles’ best tunes, it builds from the bottom and doesn’t stop.”
Highlighted by Alan’s nifty electric keyboard work, “Jean-Pierre” exemplifies what the Gold Note Singles Club is all about: Stick-in-your-dome melodies and beats for days, all brightened with a jazztronica sheen.
No question that Miles himself would’ve dug it.
