On the eighth installment of the Gold Note Singles Club, bassist/keyboardist/producer Alan Goldsher (Digable Planets, Janet Jackson, Cypress Hill) busts out a combo platter of the Beastie Boys’ instrumental classics and Medeski Martin & Wood’s early work, all buffed and polished to a jazztronica shine.
A throwback organ / bass / drums trio with some badass James Brown vox samples thrown in for good measure, “F = Funk” feels like it time traveled onto all major streaming platforms from the year 1974.
