Written and performed by WILLJACK & Tom Tikka, “Overnight Sensation” came out on July 14 and charted on both sides of the pond within days of its release, giving Will and his mates their very first transatlantic hit.

Once you hear Will Jack’s raspy vocals, Willie Jack’s new-wave flavored guitars, Paul Ringrose’s adventurous basslines, Janne Saksa’s Eltonish piano and Tom Tikka’s trademark wah-wah guitars as well as his infectious vocal hooks, your chin will hit the floor. The group WILLJACK (formerly called Doctor Zee) might not be a household name but in all honesty, they should be. Instead, they are one of the best kept secrets of the London music scene. None of this makes sense! Their front man Will Jack is charismatic and has an incredible vocal sound (reminiscent of Rod Stewart). What’s more, they have great songs and tons live of experience. Yet for years they were relatively unknown. That is, until the awarded, former Sony/BMG #1 hit songwriter Tom Tikka discovered them a few months ago.
Says, Tom Tikka:
“Well, it’s a great little band! Will’s vocal sound is just absolutely bone-chilling. It sends shivers down your spine. It’s very unique. Save Rod Stewart and Peter Chris of KISS, not a whole lot of people have that type of sound. But there’s more to the group than just Will’s vocals. Will’s son Willie is an excellent guitarist and Paul Ringrose, who plays bass is pretty damn good too. I heard a demo of “Overnight Sensation” a while ago. I thought it was brilliant but felt that it needed a bit of something still, a pop hook. I then proceeded to write one. The group loved what I had done, so I offered to produce “Overnight Sensation” for them. It was a rock song initially, but I turned it into a gospel ballad to bring Will’s voice to the fore. We also brought in producer Janne Saksa to finish the track off and ended up with something we all felt was amazing.”
