Broken Roses features the very best jazz musicians in Dallas, Texas playing original music written by leader, Michael Palma. Michael, who is now thirty years old, has already had an extensive career as a jazz artist. Here is a biography on Michael:

Berklee College of Music graduate Michael Adam Palma is a powerhouse pianist, composer, educator and producer living in the Dallas/Fort Worth area. Palma has played with heavy hitters in jazz such as Wynton Marsalis, Greg Osby, Mark Turner, Jimmy Cobb, Tootie Health, George Garzone, Roy Hargrove, Jason Palmer, Jiggs Whigman, Paquito D’Rivera, Ralph Peterson, Rich Perry, Ron Odrich, Greg Hopkins, Darren Barrett, Melissa Aldana, Delfeayo Marsalis, Andre Heyward, Adonis Rose and Hal Crook. He has toured the United States as well as Japan, Spain, and France. Palma spent one year in Brooklyn, New York where he recorded on recent Thelonious Monk institue Saxophone Competition winner Melissa Aldana’s debut album “Free Fall”, which featured many of Palma’s original compositions with reviews stating that his song “Creepo the Theif” was a highlight of the whole record. In New York, he also performed at iconic venues including The Blue Note, Cafe Vivaldi, and Kitano. He has been a featured artist at the Monterey Jazz Festival, Beantown Jazz Festival, Gene Harris Jazz Festival, and Denton Arts and Jazz Festival as well as several international jazz festivals in both France and Japan.

In 2011, Palma served as a jazz piano lecturer at the prestigious University of North Texas in their Jazz Studies Department while another faculty member was not present. Palma served as the youngest faculty member in his division teaching private piano lessons as well as improvisation classes. He is currently a faculty member at Stomp Music Studios teaching piano with a focus in technique, improvisation, theory, songwriting and arranging. He also just started teaching private production technique lessons at Stomp. Michael currently offers online lessons in a variety of subjects. While in high school, 

Michael received numerous Downbeat Awards for his masterful performing as well as his composition skills. Palma’s composing skills have been internationally recognized and can be heard on the television programs such as Dancing with the Stars, Celebrity Expose, and America’s Best Dance Crew as well as television stations ABC, NFL Network, MTV, and Superstation. Michael has also scored a few commercials and a couple of independent documentaries.
Palma now resides in Farmers Branch, TX and performs with self-organized acts in the jazz and pop/electronic/dance idiom.
