McDead presenting his new release, ‘Transported’
Wadedooo!
This poetic, fragile song by McDead is about trying to see the future through a child’s eyes – better put in the lyrics – wearing ‘fresh shades only a boy can see the world through’.
The track was inspired by a carefree crazy and sunny day in San Francisco’s Waterfront some years ago now, where (The Grateful) McDead was wearing very ‘fresh shades’… a fact repeatedly shouted at him by unbelievably friendly passers by. Well, he’s from London and that’s what he thought they said!
The ‘Transported’ mix zeroes the listener in on a truly banging bass line set in counterpoint to raw, edgy, emotionally honest vocals. Listen harder and the track reveals washes of subtle analogue guitar and organic keys, driven by a snapping ‘Krautrock’ style Motorik beat… with very subtle electronic/psychedelic ‘mangling’… this all results in McDead’s unmistakably powerful homegrown strain of unique and highly engaging indietronica.
Good times!
