Interview with ‘Miserableisobel’

Interview with 'Miserableisobel'

My name is Caitlin Strømmen but I release under the stage name Miserableisobel – my music is heavily related to mental illness, past relationships and life experiences. My new album is out now called ‘I know your heart when I see it’ available on all platforms 🙂

Where are you from?

Leicester UK

How long have you been making music?

A few years now, although I’ve been writing my own songs for as long as I can remember

How many songs /albums have you released to date?

Many songs, three albums. This is my third and favourite that I have released so far

Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it?

I saw the title as a quote somewhere, my lyrics are often inspired by words and phrases that I pick up from poetry and quotes. I liked it and it inspired some of the song titles too such as ‘heart like a crime scene’

I’m inspired by a lot of other artists too such as Maisie peters, Taylor swift, Noah kahan and Cate

How have you ended up in the music industry?

I’ve always loved writing and music, I spend a lot of time listening to music myself. So it was a dream of mine that I one day decided to pursue.

What do you think of the present music industry?

It’s hard to get into and to get noticed, I think there’s more I can do to stand out but I want to stay authentic and even if that means my songs are too long or my lyrics aren’t always relatable

Who do you think the most influential artist?

Taylor swift, big fan of hers

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?

My friends such as M.I.P and producers who have provided beats for my songs and vocals

How do you think you differ from other artists?

It’s very raw music, mostly recorded on my phone. I’m not always sure I’m doing the right thing but it comes from the heart and I really love writing the lyrics I do

Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?

It’s between Taylor or Maisie

What was the first album you bought?

I think it was probably girls aloud or the sugababes

What’s your favourite song at the moment?

Stick season – I love the line : “and I’ll dream each night of some version of you, that I might not have, but I did not lose.”

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?

This one

What is your favourite saying?

I don’t really have one but my mums favourite is “come what come may, time and the hour must run through the roughest day”

What other hobbies or interests do you have?

Mostly writing, singing, music

I also love clothes and fashion

I’m creative so I like crafts and sewing things too

Do you have any tattoos or piercings?

No tattoos and only my ears are pierced

Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?

For the moment I’ll mostly be working on promoting my new album. After that I do have some songs in the works as singles such as : Poison, Trophy and Purple Sky

What’s in the pipeline after this project?

I have a book that I want to pursue that I wrote called The Five Saga: Tetepare. It’s the first in a five novel saga about five people stranded together on a desert island. It’s written, but needs proof reading, finalising and publishing

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making great, fresh music.

Thank you for this interview and the opportunity to promote my music

Additional Questions & Answers

I have really battled with my mental health over the years and I don’t shy away from that in my music and writing. I want to reinforce the message that you are not alone, people do care and there’s help out there. Samaritans is 116 123 for anyone who needs it
