Where are you from?

I am originally from South Florida and went to New York City when I was 8 to pursue musical theater. Now I am usually between Los Angeles, New York City and South Florida.

How long have you been making music?

I’ve been composing and writing music since I was 6 years old. I always found it to be a great outlet to express myself, but also to help tell other stories.

How many songs /albums have you released to date?

I have over 100 songs written at this point, but I’ve officially released just over 20. I have several in the works for future releases.

Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it?

Going into the Coronavirus quarantine, I was being bullied by a group of people who I thought were my friends. I realized that the best way to confront them metaphorically would be to write it in song form. As they say, never mess with a composer!

How have you ended up in the music industry?

I started writing songs when I was about 6 years old. After moving to NYC when I was 8, I began to write my first musical, The Perfect Fit. In 2020, Broadway Records picked it up to release an album of my musical. I’ve always loved the music business. I’ve been grateful that I’ve been able to work with performers and writers over the past several years who continue to inspire me.

What do you think of the music industry in 2022?

I think that the music industry is changing now more than ever. Distribution has completely changed, with TikTok, Discord, Instagram and other social media channels. Artists can reach fans like never before. I’ve been able to post clips of new songs on my TikTok and can get almost instant feedback, and can talk with my supportive artist community on my Discord channel.

Who do you think the most influential artist?

I think the most influential music artist today is Billie Eilish, as she is who all of my friends listen to. She seems really nice and relatable, but also a really hard worker. Maybe one day I’ll get to work with her!

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?

I’ve been so fortunate to work with some incredible creators. I’ve written two songs with the amazing Victoria Shaw who wrote so many hits, like The River with Garth Brooks. I worked with Tony Winner Laura Benanti who sang my music on Broadway Records’ release of The Perfect Fit, the musical I wrote and composed. I got to work with Forbidden Broadway creator Gerard Alassendrini on a few shows. I’ve done a lot of work on various shows and developmental works too, like recording songs for Jason Robert Brown, Zachary and Weiner, and the songwriters of Schmigadoon!

How do you think you differ from other artists?

I differ from other artists because I am able to incorporate my love for musical theater into everything I do. I also play numerous instruments.

Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?

My dream collaboration would be Alan Menken, since his music impacted me the most throughout my childhood. I’d love to help write music for the next Disney film!

What was the first album you bought?

The first album I ever purchased was the Once the Musical Cast Recording.

What’s your favourite song at the moment?

Currently, my favorite song is Villain by Stella Jang.

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?

I would leave the many Minecraft parodies I downloaded when I was 7 and keep it in the drawer!

What is your favourite saying?

My favorite saying is “If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life”. But the truth is, you are always working hard, it’s just enjoyable.

What other hobbies or interests do you have?

Some of my interests include musical composition, writing, singing, dancing, and acting. I also like to see shows, orchestrate and arrange music, and hang out with my friends.

Do you have any tattoos or piercings?

I do not!

Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?

“Does It Make You Feel Better” is a song about understanding why people bully and is a musical hug to those who have been bullied.

What’s in the pipeline after this project?

After this song, I have a few more songs that I’m planning to release, along with a new EP! I also have a couple of musicals in the works, so I’m excited to share those when I can.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making great, fresh music.

Thank you so much for the interview!
