DÔN – CREPUSCULAR (TWILIGHT)
In the Buddhist tradition the SUKHA is the authentic and profound state of happiness of being which, in turn, leads to true satisfaction with life. It is a Sanskrit term made up of two parts: “Su” which means open and “Kha” space, so Sukha literally means space open, because when we are happy we feel open, free, like floating in a world without gravity. The happiness of the Sukha is not given by material goods, nor success, nor fame, but the state of tranquility that arises when we realize that we are alive, that we are capable of to love and have empathy with others.
The Sukha does not depend on satisfying needs but to be able to maintain ourselves in a flow of peaceful energy and noble independent of the circumstances of life. In “Crepuscular”, the third single that the Spanish band Dôn has just released through streaming platforms, the always skilful pen of Ana Blanco invites us, through her voice, to an emotional journey in search of the Sukha: “Look for me and you will find me there…” she tells us. From the second half of the 1960s to the mid-1970s oriental spirituality was an important source of inspiration in the world of rock, particularly psychedelia and prog-rock, therefore, following that musical trail, after an interlude of mellotrons and voices the band plunges into a musical journey where reveal some significant influences—favorite passages like of Firth of Fifth” by Genesis or “Comfortably Numb” by Pink Floyd-, commanded by an epic guitar solo wrapped in string and voices mellotrons, to riding all of a power rhythm section of bass and drums.
