D Dukes (Interview)

ArtistRack interviews D Dukes, a 27 year old from Chicago IL suburbs, just trying to paint a vision with my music for my supporters.

Where are you from?

Chicago IL

How long have you been making music?

I have been making music since I was 6 years old

How many songs /albums have you released to date?

I would say over 100 songs, 4-5 mixtapes. And still counting

Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it?

My latest release is called “Smokey Robbinson” it’s a new school lyrics with a old school vibe. I got the inspiration just sitting thinking about the music I grew up on and also the music my family grew up on and I just wanted to put both together and make something everybody can relate too.

How have you ended up in the music industry?

I was always shy so to get my point across I would have to write it down and just vent to myself, so being able to perfect it day by day I just knew I would make a career out of this and make a dream come true.

What do you think of the music industry in 2018?

It’s very different from what I grew up listening too. Now IRS all about the beat or the dance something catchy to grasp attention. Not too much about listening to the lyrics.

Who do you think the most influential artist?

I look up to big krit and cassidy they spit the truth and the real, that’s just something I want to do so my supporters can understand and live what I live.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?

A lot of local artists and one overseas artist. Just trying to work with everybody so I can work on my presence and learn from other artists.

How do you think you differ from other artists?

I speak what I live, I do it from the heart and the love of the music, I may not have what’s out now but I’m bringing that feel good music to the table.

Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?

Meek mill, big krit, cassidy, 2pac

What was the first album you bought?

Jay z hard knock life volume 2. Greatest album I ever heard it’s what made me want to really take music serious.

What’s your favorite song at the moment?

Young M.A-Walk

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?

Hmmm that’s a good question, I would say jadakiss “kiss the game goodbye” I bumped that album all day and night haha.

What is your favorite saying?

D Dukes Da Da D Dukes

What other hobbies or interests do you have?

Playing basketball, working out, reading, and writing new music

Do you have any tattoos or piercings?

Yes I have 12 tattoos and 2 piercings

Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?

I’m working on a EP called “Dukesology” I would say this is going to be my best work ever. From all the songs and things I then seen doing music I’m just putting it all on my real music project and I’m very excited.

What’s in the pipeline after this project?

Going on tour, and just setting huge goals. This is the year of greatness.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making great, fresh music.

Thank you I will do! Thank you for taking the time to interview me.
