About My Fantasy Promo Girl

My Fantasy Promo Girl (Emma) tells the epic journey of one “hopeful” romantic guy finding the girl of his dreams at Sunset Rock in 2005. After disappearing from his sight he goes on an epic quest to find his dream girl. Will true love prevail after he did not act fast enough? Will he see her again? Join CJ on his ultimate nostalgic serendipiteous journey of tears and laughter to recapture the moment that once stole his heart.

This true story adventure took place in 2005. I went on a road trip with my best friend to Cape St. Francis in South Africa. Sunset Rock is an iconic place for everyone and we decided to enjoy a sundowner there.

When I got there I saw the most beautiful girl I have ever seen in my entire life. I was speechless and my mouth hung open as I looked at the girl of my dreams. It was love at first sight – It was fate.

I was mesmerised as she ate her salad on the rocks while everyone was drinking a sundowner. She was a promo girl for MTN (A cellular service in South Africa) and she looked at me, we made eye contact and she handed me a promo goody bag with a Nokia shirt and some sweeties inside. As I still looked inside she unfortunately got up and started walking to her car with her promo group and they drove off.

It felt like my heart left with her in the car. At that same moment I decided I HAD TO FIND HER. I could not let my fantasy girl disappear. It was before Social media, so it was a difficult task. I started searching EVERYWHERE from the moment we parted. That last week of December but without any success.

I even had a few lady friends that started searching with me. So on the 1st of Jan 2005 I again went to Sunset Rock and truth be told I saw her sitting on the rocks with the Sunset beaming gracefully on her beauty. I am an extrovert but became incredibly scared. My heart started racing a million beats a minute.

My one friend went over to her as I prayed for a miracle behind the rocks. The next moment my phone rang and my friend was like: “She wants to meet you dude…” I freaked out because I smelled like the ocean and I was not dressed to meet my fantasy promo girl.

But I went over to her…

Our eyes locked for a moment as I slowly walked over to her… She leaned in, wrapped her arms around me. And gave me the most beautiful, deepest, hug while saying: “I knew it was you…”

I was speechless and it felt like I was flying.

We looked at each other and started smiling serendipitously … Lovingly looking with those
big brown eyes she asked; “Why would you like me?”

“Uh huh,” was the only thing I could get out.
“What is your name?” I finally snapped out of it as I smiled naughtily.

“Emma,” she smiled so gregariously jovial and curtsied.
We laughed and smiled and connected as deep as the ocean.

I told her that I started a band and asked her charmingly whether she wanted to join my groupie. She just laughed.

Time flew as we connected so naturally, beautifully, unconditionally blissful, until the sun set over Sunset Rock, and she drove back to Port Elizabeth.

I was so inspired by the movie Serendipity that it completely clouded my judgment and we never exchanged digits. She was my fantasy promo girl called Emma, from Port Elizabeth – That was all I knew and I never got her last name.

As I looked at her car driving slowly off into the distance, I noticed her catching a few glimpses in the rearview mirror, and it suddenly dawned on me that just maybe, I made an extremely tragic decision.

I wanted to see if fate will bring us together – and decided that later the same year I will come back to Sunset Rock – an only 17 hour Road trip from Johannesburg.

December of 2005 came and gone, and I did not find my beloved dream girl.
Years passed but I could not get Emma out of my heart. I decided that I have to make a song and music video about our “love at first sight”-story and hopefully one day she will see it and be able to contact me.

In 2012, I went back to search for her again. I flew into Port Elizabeth and decided I need backup for my mission and I spoke to some radio stations. They agreed and aired my story. They asked that if you are Emma that she should come to Sunset Rock and meet CJ there at 18:00. He will be there for the next 5 days, every day at 18:00 till sunset.

The first day as I got there, there was already a crowd that gathered waiting to see if Emma will arrive. It was so surreal finding a crowd cheering me on arriving with my 5 red roses when they found out that it was me searching for Emma.

The radio channel got swamped by girls claiming to be Emma but it was unfortunately not my Emma. Every day the crowds got bigger and my roses less. As the sun set one final time over Sunset Rock, waiting with my last red rose, I realized that Emma did not get the message in time. Just like Romeo and Juliet, our love will last forever in the memories we once cherished or until our hearts one day finally meet again.

This music video tells our story.
