Kayla Nichols proudly presents her album, ‘Illusion’
My name is Kayla Nichols and I’m a blues rock and roll artist based out of Redding, California! I just recently released an album called “Illusion” that was recorded by Bruce Turgon, the original bass player from the 80’s classic rock band Foreigner. My sound is a fusion of old-school and modern sounds inspired by past and present blues, pop, and rock and roll icons such as B.B. King, Gary Clark Jr., Janis Joplin, Greta Van Fleet, Jimi Hendrix, The Black Keys, Joan Jett, and Bonnie Raitt. Rock and roll is an iconic genre that has become lost in my generation, so I want to bring it back to the forefront in a modern way. My song “Illusion” is the highlight track off my album and blends pop, rock and blues together. It’s a breakup song I wrote about breaking up with thing you think will give you a real experience of love and life but are really just an illusion.
This could be things like pornography, drugs, alcohol, co-dependent relationships, basically anything you think will give you that experience of love and life you’re looking for but are actually just an illusion. People are the reason I write and create music. In the words of Bono, I believe “music can change the world because it can change people.” My heart is put out music that is real and relatable and that people can connect with, but at the same time pulls people into an experience of their self-worth and value.
