Artistrack brings to you ‘Man in the Mirror’ by Casttro
The story behind the man in the mirror
The idea came to me after an interview with WAEVZ ( Livdaangel) where we briefly
touched on the subject of finding my own sound and on the search I went through every possible style and genre of music just trying to expand my discography and I ended up learning a-lot more about myself and who casttro is.
I’d have people around me say “nah Casttro wouldn’t really be on those types of beats “or nah bro these beats ain’t casttro like”
It became sort of a therapeutic thing where I would look deeper and deeper into the past.
Thinking about how it felt in my first studio sessions to remembering the last conversation I had with a friend before he passed away.
i changed the way I wrote music going from find specific beats to instead focusing more on visualising the song in my mind before even finding the beat i and letting the song write itself.
I realised that I had to get rid of this idea that Castro wasn’t separate from me or even a other “side” of me.
when I heard the instrumental to it instantly came to me it felt like how they describe opening the third eye – indescribable feeling
of energy and pure intuition like the beat literally spoke to me.
Notable lines to include + Some explanations
“I have seen death from the bride like majak daw”
“Weekness started to leak in went from Mr weekend to mr sleep in”
A big thing many of us first generation Australians especially us africans don’t have it the idea of speaking about mental health with our family members simply because it’s a new concept to them.
But having that knowledge or a outlet can lead to things getting worse.

“Now let me paint the picture I’m the darkest but I’m still infatuated with the scripture”
“I guess I had to move in the dark to see the light”
I grew up in a strict christian household so when I’d get some freedom I’d sometimes abuse that freedom and end up in situations and it took me getting more in touch with my religion to understand and except the issue I had.
