Dani Teveluwe releases her new single, ‘Double Shot’
‘Hurt people, hurt people.’
I first heard this phrase in 2019 when completing my yoga teacher training, and they really hit a chord. I loved how they created space for empathy, understanding, compassion.
Like many people, I have had others be a bit of a bitch to me, hell, I have been that person too, however when I truly undersood that phrase, ‘hurt people, hurt people,’ I could step back and see more clearly, through the eyes of compassion.
At the time of writing this song, I had noticed people in my life who were habitually mean, or crass, or unkind.
I also noticed they were quite unaware of their actions. Stuck in a feedback loop, a habitual cycle. Just like the habit of waking up and making yourself a coffee in the morning, they were in a habit of being unkind to others.
Double Shot sings it plain as day, “I know you only do the things you do, because you’re hurting.”
Sung sweetly, with the childlike sentiment of easy forgiveness, I hope Double Shot can connect with those who have been hurt, or who have done the hurting, and create space for forgiveness, empathy, and hopefully more joy.

Into The Deep is a celebration of courage and fuses the classics sounds of Motown with the contemporary feel of pop.
Now she leaves us with her latest track, Double Shot. A sweet and sentimental tune, inspired by the premise that ‘hurt people, hurt people,’ and the realisation that we can choose to acknowledge that hurt, but still come from a place of love.
