The Street Poets (Rap Group) are a rap music collective originating from Boston, MA in the 1990’s. (#GoldenAge)

The Street Poets featured the highly skilled Boston rappers Polecat, Punch, Govuna Pete, and the unforgettably smooth vocals of Trevor “Jukebox” Blanchard.

The Street Poets self-titled album released on DBK Records in 1995 had success in the USA and even greater notoriety abroad.

Several of their singles were released on vinyl and can be found in golden age hip hop record collections and online playlists worldwide.

The Street Poets were produced and recorded by Dow Brain and Brad Young of Underground Productions, Inc. in Boston, MA.

Street Poet Punch from the group went on to write for Andre Romelle Young, aka Dr. Dre for his historic Dr. Dre – The Chronic 2001 LP, and more recently had a composition featured in the historic 2012 documentary: “Something From Nothing: The Art of Rap.

Street Poet Govuna Pete is in ATL and doing well! Street Poets Polecat is still working with the original Street Poets producers making music and shooting videos.

The original album cover shown here features a photo taken by Stephen Sheffield who has photographed saxophonist Branford Marsalis and many others.
