SOURCE – Memories Of Yesterday

SOURCE – Memories Of Yesterday:

Boulder, Colorado is known across the country as a place of unrivaled beauty. Set at the foot of the Rocky Mountains, it is often defined by the Flatirons and the symbiotic relationship with nature. What’s not as well known is that Boulder is also a thriving cultural hub, not only from its proximity to Denver, but also as the home to the University of Colorado.

From this nurturing scene has emerged SOURCE, a progressive metal band that has injected a healthy dose of cerebral exploration into a genre that traditionally relies on brawn over brains. SOURCE pulls from both sides of the equation, akin to bands like KTool and Opeth.

In their own words they “create consciousness based music through the exploration of philosophy, meditation, yoga, flotation tanks and other mindfulness practices. Their music is an expression of the sensations experienced on this planet, the profoundness of the human experience and the beauty of all that is.”

In conjunction with the release of their new album Return To Nothing (Pavement Entertainment) and an upcoming national tour, the band has released the first single, a mesmerizing, brilliant thrasher called “Memories Of Yesterday.” The accompanying video is defined by it’s arresting beauty and ambitious cinematography. Mixing a variety of playback speeds, some full speed, some slow motion, director Eric Richter brilliantly marries the visual and the sonic with stunning perfection.
