Mic Yates announcing new release titled ‘Apex Predator’
Mic Yates (also known as Michael Yates, or “The Bookkeeper”) is an artist and performer from Grand Rapids, Michigan. Recently, he announced the release of an exciting new project titled “Apex Predator.”
As you might know, an apex predator is someone who’s on top of the food chain, one who doesn’t have to fear anything or anybody. Much like this powerful metaphor’s Mic Yates’ lyrical flow is absolutely fearless and roaring, allowing his music to blur the lines between the edge of old-school rap, and the punch of modern trap and neo-soul, among other genres. This talented rapper also has a very eclectic music background, as he admittedly influenced by various styles: not just rap, but also rock, pop, jazz, R&B and many more!
This new release really reflects the artist’s unique open-ended creative attitude as well as his diverse artistic background. As an artist, he’s been passionate about music ever since he was only very young, and this unique new project definitely highlights his constant commitment to creating amazing music.

Bio
Michael Yates known as Mic Yates or The Bookkeeper was born in Grand Rapids, Michigan. He lived in multiple cities and states throughout the Midwest. Gaining his love for music at a young age he incorporated all the sounds he loved and heard growing up into his style of music. Resulting in the ever evolving style of his creations with music. He’s most known for aggressive chopper style and hard hitting bars. When Mic Yates was 18 he joined the U.S. Army in which he is currently still serving. He has spent most of his career overseas in South Korea and Germany.
While stationed in those countries he grew a better understanding not just of the cultures of those countries but the the music and sounds the countries produced. Mic Yates has also performed in many different venues in Germany. Opening up for such artists as Kstylis and OG Maco. Mic Yates has a huge focus on the “Good & Bad” in the world, from relationship, education, survival, & even religion, he strives for the understanding of what and who built the lines of good and bad in the world. Mic Yates first release from his upcoming EP The Book Of Yates: A Note To The Reader Is “Apex Predator”, a rapid hard hitting track letting everyone know that the beast is here.
