Jon Harris presenting his remix of, ‘I Don’t Care’ from Ed Sheeran & Justin Bieber
Ed Sheeran comes back to the lime light with his new song “I Don’t Care” collaborating with singer Justin Bieber. The song was released Friday May 10, 2019 and revolves around the idea of togetherness. Ed Sheeran sings in the first verse speaking on how he doesn’t fit in, doesn’t care to be at the party, and doesn’t care for the people around. They lower his self-esteem from the way they act and their body language towards him but finishes the story in the chorus being that he doesn’t mind as long as he’s with his lover. Justin takes the second first as the couple being in the position of being the outcast and how they don’t fit in because the people are troubled. His message is that it’s okay as long they’re together, it felt like a mistake being there at first but it’s more of something they need to experience.
Two days late Jon Harris makes a remix being his type of mood. Harris stated he immediately got the song because he is a huge Ed Sheeran fan and once he heard the song he instantly loved it. He felt the message and started writing as the track gave him so many ideas. In Jon’s verse he took the Ed Sheeran approach as the loner outcast rather than being a couple that didn’t fit in. He starts out bringing himself down and changes to how his partner affects him. He takes a jab in his typical Jon Harris fashion, speaking on his openness to show he’s a flawed person but in society people trying their hardest to hide their flaws and present themselves as perfect as possible. The whole time he speaks negatively about himself but glorifies the person he speaks to which bring home his insecurities in which he later says he only sees his insecurities. Jon is a deep thinker and it comes out in his writing. Speaking on the song he said, “I love listening to Ed Sheeran and was so excited to hear he was coming out with a song. I always have the same fear with my favorite artist as I do with myself hoping they don’t lose it but he not only delivered but he over delivered with this song. I just hope I did it justice. That’s really the only thought that plays in my mind when making remixes.”
