 Some artists are all about defying the usual stereotypes, while also celebrating their musical roots. This is definitely the case for LaStat, an excellent performer with a passion for old-school rap and more. Hailing from Hartford, Connecticut, he has been making music for over 20 years now, and he shows no sign of slowing down. Inspired by legends like Biggie and Tupac, he is a true student of the hip-hop culture, dividing deeper into every facet of this iconic style. One of the most distinctive traits of LaStat’s work is that every single element in his songs seems to converge into the same set of aesthetics beautifully. By that, I mean to say that his tracks actually explore different ideas, yet they do maintain a really nice, natural and one-of-a-kind attitude, with so much to look forward to.

His recent release “Long Gevity Destiny” features some intricate melodies and some amazingly textural beats, making for a one-of-a-kind feel. LaStat’s ability to take his flow to the next level, is truly impressive, and he can seamlessly add some melodic elements to his vocal performances to top it off. In addition to that, it’s quite easy to see how the artist is connected with the lyrics and the flow of his music.
