Interview with Talia Perez
Hey! My name is Talia Perez and I’m a singer, songwriter, & music producer from Los Angeles, CA.
Where are you from?
Los Angeles, CA
How long have you been making music?
I’ve been singing ever since I was a baby. I started writing music around 13 years old and I started producing music when I turned 17 years.
How many songs /albums have you released to date?
I’ve released a total of 4 singles to date: Champion, Success, West Coast, and my most recent collaboration Lights So Bright ft. Sunlit Souls.
Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it?
My latest release is called “Lights So Bright” which is a collaboration I did with the talented band Sunlit Souls. I met Sunlit Souls back in the summertime when they were playing live at a event. I walked on stage and asked if they wanted to freestyle and makeup a song and within a few minuets we had written Lights So Bright! The crowd was so pleased with the spontaneous song so the next day we went to the recording studio and completed the song. I’m very excited for everyone to listen to Lights So Bright since it has such a unique sound and its a fresh tune with the soulful vocals intertwined timeless guitar melodies.

How have you ended up in the music industry?
I started venturing into the music industry around 14 years old when I was on the XFactor USA Season 2. It was such a inspiring experience and that really motivated me to continue pursuing my career. Then a couple years ago a friend of mine, who had been in the industry many years, taught me the tools of how to start producing my own music. I’m so grateful that I am able to have creative direction and control over the production of my music- all because a friend came along to help me and show me the ropes of music producing. It shows teamwork really does make the dream work. I now produce and write all my original music and I continue to look forward to growing in the music industry.
What do you think of the music industry in 2018?
I think the music industry is changing at a fast pace but its very exciting to see it expand and grow. I look forward to whats ahead. With streaming and social media, its become amazing how the platforms are able to
Who do you think the most influential artist?
There’s a lot of artists that influence my musical style and taste. It varies from Ella Fitzgerald, Louis Armstrong, and Frank Sinatra but then I also love EDM artist/Djs such as Jonas Blue, Diplo, Duke Dumont, etc… I love to listen to a mix and variety of different music artist and genres.
Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?
So far I’ve collaborated with Sunlit Souls on this new song Lights So Bright. This is my first collaboration and I’m very pleased with how it sounds. Its completely different from my usual pop/edm releases so i think it will be a fresh sound for new listeners.
How do you think you differ from other artists?
I believe I differ from other artist with my unique sound, deep vibrato, jazz/soul tone of my voice, and the way I intertwine inspiration from a variety of genres into my musical style.
Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?
Dream collaboration would probably be with Justin Bieber, Demi Lovato, and San Holo.
What was the first album you bought?
I usually buy singles over a entire album, so I don’t think i have bought a entire album yet.
What’s your favourite song at the moment?
“Lift Me From the Ground” by San Holo
If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?

What is your favourite saying?
Proverbs 10:4 A slack hand causes poverty, but the hand of the diligent makes rich.
What other hobbies or interests do you have?
My favorite hobbies are painting, drawing, photography, hiking, and reading novels. I could read books all day if i had the time haha.
Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
Nope, it might seem silly but my ears are not even pierced haha.
Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?
I’m excited about this new single Lights so Bright coming out Nov. 5th but I also have new music coming in early 2019. I’m really looking forward to sharing the new music I’ve been working hard on. Stay tuned!
What’s in the pipeline after this project?
I’m already working on my next single which will be a dance song with hip hop influences. Its pretty fast paced and will get you up on your feet dancing when you hear it. This upcoming project is going to one of my number one favorites yet. Can’t wait to share the new music coming out in 2019, its going to be very fresh and inspiring.
