INTERVIEW:

What is your name?  Shachar David but most people just call me Nami

Where are you from?   from Tel Aviv in Israel

How long have you been making music?   ever since i was 9 years old i had a passion for music, i recorded my first song at the age of 20, and i used to dj a lot, when my first son was born i took it to the next level and formed my own lable so i could release my songs officialy to the world without being depended on record companies to release them.

How many songs /albums have you released to date?   so far i made 1 album 1 EP, released 7 singles and soon to release something really big this coming monthes.

Can you tell us about your upcoming release and the background and inspirations behind it?   my latest release is “Horizon EP”, it’s a deep house inspired album mixed with melodies and indie dance/Nu Disco feel to it. in late 2014 i was working on an album i called “Reflections”. it was an EDM / Big Room album. i was at the final stages of the album, and was ready to release it, but things have changed at the time, and i was attracted more and more to deep house music. since i coulden’t conect with my music style choice for the album, i decided to alter it, and made an EP inspired from the tunes and melodies from “Reflections”. i titled the EP “Horizon”, after my son’s name who inspired me and motivated me to work on this album.

How have you ended up in the music industry?   at first i’v tried with several local lables, but i was getting a negetive response from every A&R i sent my music to. i remeber even one lable managers who declined my songs and said to me “dont get into this industry, it’s not for someone like you”. in 2013 i formed my own lable “Ricosheet” and released my songs on itunes and digital media stores. and i currently represent Joy Records as their lable manager in Israel and Europe.

What do you think of the music industry in 2015?   this industry is almost impossible to deal with, most artists does not make it, and not everybody is destined to be a star, but if you are strong enough, and have the will power to go on and push yourself to the max, then anything can happen.

Who do you think the most influential artist?   i think there is a lot of breakthrough artists that’s inspired me, but if i have to pick one, then i think i go to my roots and say The Prodigy. they made me fell in love with electronic music.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?   in my EP “Horizon” i’v collaborated with 2 local producers, i made the track “Cry” with. Eran Gerber and another track titled “trickstar” with the hip hop producer S.A.R

Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?   i think if i could work with someone it would be Vitalic, i could defintely do somthing great with him

What was the first album you bought?   Coolio – Gangstar Paradise

What’s your favorite song at the moment? “Wish you were mine” by Phillip George, it’s an awesome track, just my cup of tea

Who is the most influential artist now, and 10 years ago? i think a lot of the youth now go with FUTURE HOUSE and INDIE DANCE/NU DISCO, 10 years ago it was artists like pitbull, kanye west and such…

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?   nothing ! love everything i do, every track i made is valubale to me

How do you think you differ from other artists?   most of the indipendent artist these days think small, they think that someone will make them a star, what they dont understand is that the only way they will do it, is by pushing on and on and on.

What is your favorite saying?   “never do for free what you can do for money”

What other hobbies or interests do you have?   i currently the lable manager of Joy Records in Israel and DJ a lot so it doesnt leave me enough free time.

Do you have any tattoos or piercings?  no… never thought about it actually, i wouldnt mind to do one.

Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?   right now i’m working on a track called “99” which destined to go out on beatport and itunes this coming monthes..

What’s in the pipeline after this project?   a lot of lable work, finding new stars and develope them, and work on another album.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making dope, fresh music.

thank you BeatSTA, keep on helping to push young talents and give them a great platform like this one
