Interview with, ‘Moe The Genius’

Whats up Im Moe the Genius and i am the best rapper alive. Now get pissed off.

Where are you from?

I’m from Albany, Ga born and raised.

How long have you been making music?

I been making music since middle school. I remember recording songs on a cell phone and randomly sending it to people at school. I started posting music on myspace with a weak microphone i got from radioshack. I made it work though.

How many songs /albums have you released to date?

Technically 3 mixtapes, 1 EP and a single.

Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it?

The song is called “outcast” i wanted to make a song that shows people its OK to be a weirdo and an outcast. We live in such an judgmental opinionated society. Most people don’t know its OK to be themselves and be different from everyone else. I met this cool female singer online named Elluna. When i heard her voice i already knew this song was necessary because we got that weird shit in common.

How have you ended up in the music industry?

Well as of now im a independent artist.

What do you think of the music industry in 2019?

Its an joke and a circus act. Look i hate to sound like a bitter guy or hip hip old head but most music these days is trash to me. Especially in hip hop and R&B. I hate the fact that stupid people become famous. Its all about popularity and not talent these days. I mostly listen to pop and rock anyway. There are a few gems in the industry but overall im not feeling what the music industry has become.

Who do you think the most influential artist?

For me it will always be 50 cent, Kendrick Lamar, School boy Q, Jay-Z, Kanye West, Tupac, Drake, Lil Wayne,Spaceghostpurrp, Metallica, empire of the sun and Asap Rocky.

Those are the artist that has influenced me over the years. But 50 cent has had the biggest influence.
I had all this guy CD’s, Mixtapes, Video Games and movies. 50 Cent made me have confidence in myself and taught me to never back down or bite my tongue. Get Rich Or Die Tryin is the best album ever made in my opinion.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?

Well Elluna, cant remember the other people names. Most of them gave up on this music thing anyway.

How do you think you differ from other artists?

I think my attitude is different. I Just don’t give a fuck what people think. Most artist seek validation and approval but me i don’t care about critics or opinions. Also i think my sound is different from most artist.
Most rappers be on the trap wave and be pressed for a hit/club record. Me i just make what i want and let the people follow.

Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?

I would have loved to work with Aaliyah. She is my favorite singer ever. I love that woman lol. She was an angel. Wish she was still here.

Alive either would be asap rocky or empire of the sun.

As far as producers pharrell and the neptunes. Clams casino.

What was the first album you bought?

50 cent get rich or die tryin

What’s your favourite song at the moment?

Drab Majesty- Unknown to the I

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?

I have no cds, its the streaming era.

What is your favourite saying?

If there is a will, there is a way.

What other hobbies or interests do you have?

I love film. I have a blu ray collection. I got a ton of movies. I would love to direct movies one day when i get sick if this music shit. Also love comic books and superhero shit. Love video games as well. Into sports. Mainly the NBA the NFL feel off for me.
