Interview with: Jae Alxndr
I am a up&coming artist from Missouri. recently i was diagnosed with non hodgkin’s lymphoma and took up my first love, music to pass the time. i hope you enjoy my songs.
Where are you from?
Missouri and Tennesse, respectfully.
How long have you been making music?
my whole life, infrequently.
How many songs /albums have you released to date?
3 officially. I released music under a prior name a few years ago before pulling it.
Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it?
2003, is a subtle look back at 2003–it samples juveniles “slow motion” which was a huge hit that year. my biggest influences are my favorite artist partynextdoor by far. first time i heard him something clicked in my head.
How have you ended up in the music industry?
I always made music off and on but with the stay in the house mandates and me being “at risk” it made me think about taking this seriously. i made the jump and i haven’t looked back.
What do you think of the music industry in 2020?
There is a lot of fake love. but real love too; i get more feedback or praise from strangers than those i text daily. but that’s just the game.
Who do you think the most influential artist?
of all time? thug no doubt. drake of course as well as partynextdoor.
Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?
i don’t want features for awhile in my career— for once i’m putting myself face forward.
How do you think you differ from other artists?
everyone is similar in their own way— i just make music i know would sound good the way i like to listen to music; driving late night on the highway or home with a significant other.
Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?
Party, Tupac, Drake, Aaliyah, Ginuwine i could go all day i’ll just keep it at that.
What was the first album you bought?
i bought get rich or die trying the first day it came out, then college dropout. listened every bus ride to and from school.
What’s your favourite song at the moment?
i’m not sure of the moment— but all time it’s Scarface ft Tupac “smile” or ugk & outkast’s “international players anthem” depending on mood.
If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?
4youreyezonly i saw it performed live—i was alone. life changing experience.
What is your favourite saying?
doing better than i’m feeling
What other hobbies or interests do you have?
i love sports mainly basketball & football. slowly getting more into boxing and mma.
Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
i have a tattoo sleeve and a few others.
Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?
i have a demo project releasing within the next two months to give a taste of the things i have been working on.
What’s in the pipeline after this project?
Debut after my demo to hone my sound as i see so fit.
