iLL Jay introducing brand new single: BreatheΒ
June 2020 – This year definitely did not start off with the best introduction, as wild fires ravaged Australiaβs wilderness. If this wasnβt enough, the COVID-19 pandemic broke havoc on the world. affecting millions of people, their health, and their livelihood. To add fire to the flame, political divisiveness and violence are at a very tense moment, in light of George Floydβs murder at the hands of the police.
Many artists all around the world are sharing their support for the Black Lives Matter movement and condemning police brutality. Rap artist iLL Jay decided to play a role in making a difference and use her voice for the voiceless on a song titled βBreathe,β which is an obvious reference to George Floydβs tragic last words. The song features a nice old-school rap vibe, which is quite fitting even considering that Mr. Floyd was actually involved with the rap scene down in Texas!
