Barbara J. introducing her latest album release, ‘Only Yesterday: Remembering The Carpenters’
Following the successful reception of Barbara J.βs second album, A Box Full of Records, a collection of favorite songs from timeless artists, Barbara spent some time deciding which direction to take on her next studio effort. With her cover of βRainy Days and Mondays,β originally recorded by The Carpenters, drawing positive reviews from listeners, in addition to attracting some interest from film industry types, she decided to devote an entire album to covering hits of the legendary brother-sister duo. She and her producer put their heads togetherβremotely, due to the COVID restrictions on travel and in-person meetingsβand came up with a list of some songs that were near and dear to Barbara and, she thought, sure to be favorites of listeners everywhere. This carefully curated collection of covers features her take on some of the legendary music duoβs greatest love songs, as well as βThe Uninvited Guest,β with Jeffrey Tweel, one of the songβs composers, as her accompanist.
