Autorub returns with another single from their new EP “America The Sick.” The smooth hip-hop/R&B jam “I Don’t Wanna Hear Any More About Mitch McConnell” is both funky and funny!
The song echoes a sentiment that frankly anyone can get onboard with, no matter their beliefs. It also poses an amusing theory as to why Mr. McConnell behaves the way he does.
Musically, there’s a lot of classic R&B influences like Stevie Wonder and Prince. There are lush, jazzy vocal harmonies ala Pharrell or even Steely Dan, but they are done with a vocoder, adding both a futuristic and retro touch.
Topped off with the rap/narration done with a robotic style vocoder over a slamming hip-hop beat, and we have an interesting fusion of styles that’s a lot of fun to listen to.
