Amber Norgaard proudly presents her song, ‘Light to the World’
Inspired by the longest night of the year and the Advent story, Amber Norgaard wrote “Light to the World” on winter solstice 2010. Just three weeks after writing it, her hometown of Tucson, Arizona was shaken by the tragic shootings of January 8th, 2011. She performed at the vigil outside of congresswoman and shooting survivor Gabrielle Giffords’ office. That evening when she performed “Light to the World” to the grieving community as they held candles in prayer and unity to cast light upon a very dark situation, “Light to the World” had an even more profound meaning.
This recording is off of her 2018 “Be the Peace” holiday album.
Described as “Tucson’s folk-rock goddess” (Natural Awakenings) and a “singer/songwriter to be reckoned with” (Tucson Lifestyle), Amber Norgaard is a nurse-turned-musician who uses music as a healing art to foster compassion, spirituality and promote positive social change. Since departing her Alaskan nursing career in 2004 to become a musician, she has released seven full-length albums, toured nationally, opened for Judy Collins, Kenny Loggins and Michael McDonald, achieved multiple songwriting accolades, and writes songs for non-profit organizations, film projects and commissions.
