Mallorei X announces the release of her new single, ‘Lil Rascals’
DMV Native Precious Rumph, stage name Mallorei X, is not the usual female lyricist. She blends her real-life stories with music to create an unorthodox sound. Singing since age 4 and Writing music and poems since she was 9 years old, she eventually secretly started writing rap lyrics that she would eventually sell; as being an artist herself was not her initial goal, writing scripts and being a radio personality was.
Mallorei grew up in church, where she led many songs in the choir, praised danced and wrote and directed/produced 2 plays. She attended college at Shaw University in North Carolina, majoring in theater and mass communications. Age 20, She recorded her first mixtape “The best Kept Secret” which wasn’t released until April 3rd 2017!
Performing at multiple open mics in the DC area, she eventually caught the eye of local Radio legend “DJ dirty Rico”, where she was chosen as captain in a Girls vs Boys Cypher at the former BET studios.
Mallorei influences include Michael Jackson, Anita Baker, Brandy, Lil Kim, Lauryn Hill, Ludacris, Kendrick Lamar and many others; but her sound mostly reflects what she likes to call “rap blues”. Lately, she has been incorporating a new sound for her future work. Her first single “Lil Rascals” was Released July 2, 2019, and is available on all major music outlets.
