Secret Friend – Something’s Happening: There’s nothing we love here at HIP Video Promo from artists that are prolific storytellers and never afraid to push the boundaries of their visual creativity. We regularly celebrate artists like of Montreal, whose 16th video we recently sent to out into the world. There’s another artist quickly cementing themselves on our radar screen as one that is equally ambitious and consistent in their output. That artist is Secret Friend, the video is “Something’s Happening,” and the man behind the music is Steven Fox.
Over the course of the five previous videos we’ve talked about the diverse influences that coalesce into one mesmerizing sound that make up the new album, Sleeper. Whether it be acoustic guitars, digital programming, pop melodies psychedelic production, or a straight forward rock vibe, the end result is always simultaneously intriguing and engaging.
Visually, each video has ticked off a different box on the visual spectrum. “I Don’t Know You,” “Nobody Listens,” “Orbital Velocity,” “Do You?” and “Diving In A Sea Of Light” all incorporate any given amounts of live action, animation, CGI, or even scrapbook style collages. Each new video is one step beyond the last in scope and execution and the newest offering, “Something’s Happening,” is a delightful work of art that we’re excited to share with you.
