Marcela, welcome to Artist Rack! How’s it going for you today?

Very good, thank you!

We’re loving your new track ‘Dimelo’, summer feeling vibes all round. What can you tell us about the record & inspiration behind it?

I love that you are loving it! There wasn’t a specific record that inspired the track, it was more the Reggaeton influence I have. I wanted to make something Latin but Pop enough to be considered commercial Pop.

How did yourself & Reign Write come to collaborate together?

Through my publisher. This is the second song I release with her, she is a brilliant singer and songwriter. My first release in the UK was in 2015 and it’s called ‘Do It’, it features Reign Write!

Having tested the waters with a mixture of pop, dance & latin orientated styles, what would you describe your main focus as currently?

My main focus is Pop. Although I want to make records that are influenced by Dance music and Reggaeton and make them Pop.

The Tropical House version of ‘Dimelo’ has been seeing strong streams across Spotify, what’s your personal favourite remix?

My personal favourite is either the Spanish remix or the original edit!

If you could work with any other artist right now, who would it be & why?

Wow! Any artist? I would love to work with Calvin Harris, Martin Garrix, Dua Lipa, Daddy Yankee!

What is the music scene like in Columbia & have streaming services also taken hold there?

The music scene is very lively and happy. It is very Latin. I would say that 70 – 80% of what it’s consumed is Latin. Streaming services have been becoming a very popular way of consuming music. I would say YouTube is the most popular in Colombia followed by Deezer and then Spotify.

And finally, do you have further release plans for the remainder of this year?

Yes! The official release for ‘Dimelo’ the Spanish Remix will be out soon featuring RedWine, a Cuban Reggaeton artist! It comes with its own video and it’s aimed for the Latin market.
