Where are you from?
I’m from Philadelphia, Pa
How long have you been making music?
I have been making music since the age of 12. I started after a friend of mine started an entertainment group and asked me to join. I never made music before but I told him that I would join anyway just to support and try out something new. The first song I put out got a lot of attention and i’ve been making music ever since.
How many songs /albums have you released to date?
I have put out a lot of songs so far so it’s really hard to keep count, but I have put out 3 albums. The first one in 2012, the second in 2014, and my latest album “Vibes From 5” in 2016 which is still doing well.
Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it?
My latest release “Vibes From 5” is a 14 track album that I began creating a year ago. It includes my single “FWU” which is gaining a lot of attention and should take off soon. The story behind this album is that I was in a relationship with a girl and she eventually left me for someone else. I used that as motivation to create some of the best music that I have ever made. The album tells a story of the good and bad times during our relationship. The process of creating this album was very therapeutic for me and it helped me express my feelings in an artistic form.
How have you ended up in the music industry?
I ended up in the music industry through a friend of mine. In the 7th grade he wanted to start a group of rappers, singers and actors. He asked me to join but in the beginning I was unsure because I didn’t really have a talent at the time. I had a little musical background because of being active in church playing the drums and singing in the choir. This lead me to make the decision of joining which ended up being the best decision of my life.
What do you think of the music industry in 2017?
It’s filled with a variety of different sounds. I don’t agree with a lot of the songs that some artists put out but it is their way of expressing themselves.
Who do you think the most influential artist?
In my opinion the most influential artist for me Is Kevin Gates. A lot of people will say the normal artist such as Jay-Z, Tupac , and Biggie but I feel that Kevin Gates is very influential. I relate to a lot of his songs and it has gotten me through a lot of things such as the relationship I was in when I wrote my latest album “Vibes From 5”. He motivates me to be a better person and also a better artist. His slogan “I don’t get tired” has to be one of the most influential sayings.
Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?
I haven’t really collaborated with many artists so far. The only artists that I have collaborated with is the person that I first started rapping with and a few other local artists.
How do you think you differ from other artists?
I feel that I differ from other artists because I take my time with my music. A lot of artist put out music that has no meaning or story behind it. Their music is just put out to have people turn up at parties which is cool but I feel that music should also have substance. I tell a story from my past in every song that I put out so that people can relate to my music and also so that people of all different ages , races and backgrounds can enjoy it.
Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?
My dream collaboration would be with Michael Jackson and Kevin Gates. They are two of my favorite artists and they take their craft serious just Like I do so I know that the music we would make would be timeless.
What was the first album you bought?
The first album that I bought was Kevin Gates “Islah”. As we can see I am a huge Kevin Gates supporter. I feel like we have a lot in common so it was only right that I buy his album.
What’s your favorite song at the moment?
My favorite song at the moment is Astrid S “Hurts So Good”. That song gives me the chills because it is so relatable and it sound fantastic sonically.
If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?
That’s a very tough decision but I would have to say that I would have to leave that “Islah” album in my drawer. I just recently started buying albums new and old , but “Islah” has to be my favorite.
What is your favorite saying?
My favorite saying “After every storm, the sun always shines”. That quote keeps me motivated when I feel like giving up.
What other hobbies or interests do you have?
I don’t really have many other hobbies because music takes up a lot of my time but whenever I have any free time I like to play video games and exercise.
Do you have any tattoos or piercings?
No, I don’t have any tattoos or piercings but I do want to get a couple of tattoos in the future.
Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?
My latest project “Vibes From 5” is available on Itunes, Spotify, Tidal, Soundcloud and mostly every other music streaming site. It is a great project that any and everyone can listen no matter where you come from. it has a lot of songs that people can relate to especially anyone who has ever had their heartbroken. At the moment I am working on an EP titled “Dead Roses” which will detail past relationships and friendships that i’ve had with different women. I don’t have a release date for it but hopefully it will be out by the summer.
What’s in the pipeline after this project?
After this project I just want to release more music and more music videos. I don’t really have a set plan for anything because I just leave everything in God’s hands because I know that he has something great prepared for me.
