Now, she’s back with “Seethe” the gripping lead single from her upcoming ninth studio album, The Dark. And honestly? It’s some of her most magnetic work yet.

The Story Behind “Seethe”

Wolfe wrote the bones of “Seethe” on a bass guitar while riding a Scandinavian ferry during a European tour. Because it started from a bassline rather than her usual guitar or piano setup, the track has a completely different heartbeat.

It moves with this relentless, rolling momentum—almost like a freight train you can’t look away from. Plus, getting Queens of the Stone Age’s Troy Van Leeuwen to add his signature lead guitar magic to the track? Absolute perfection.

Lyrically, the song doesn’t pull any punches. Wolfe has described it as a total revenge fantasy—a track about cutting ties with someone trying to drain your energy, your time, and your power. It leans into fierce, untamed archetypes that refuse victimhood and turn the tables right back around.

Musically, it’s also fascinating to watch her evolve. While it’s dripping with her signature dark aura, there’s a sharper, cleaner edge to the production here. The choruses open up, her vocals sit right up front, and it proves she doesn’t need walls of heavy distortion to sound utterly menacing and powerful.
