New music release, ‘An Imprint Upon Time’ by The Rain Dogs
The Rain Dogs are an essentially one-man band most of the time: Gareth Bouch (formerly of industrial band Smallcreep) playing keyboards and Chapman Stick, writing and recording predominantly ambient and electronica.
‘An Imprint Upon Time’ is described by Gareth as “an introspective piece from my lockdown headspace”. It features floating pads and textures underpinning a loose melody based on the sound of the ancient Scandinavian fiddle, the Nyckelharpa, but played with a technique and treatments developed by Gareth to sound more like a soaring Indian classical violin style.
‘An Imprint Upon Time’ is one of a growing series by The Rain Dogs, “Music For Drones And Nyckelharpa” and is typical of their evolving ambient style.
