Pauli Lyytinen Magnetia Orkesteri proudly present, ‘Teknojazz’

“Pauli Lyytinen Magnetia Orkesteri’s tremendously exciting performance epitomized all that is good about contemporary jazz.”
– Ian Patterson, All About Jazz

”Lyytinen is a spectacularly inventive saxophone player that you could happily listen to all evening!”
– Laurence Mackin, Jazzwise

Pauli Lyytinen Magnetia Orkesteri’s debut album was launched very successfully in the summer of 2017 when the band’s leader, sax player and composer Pauli Lyytinen, received the Ted Curson award at the Pori Jazz Festival in Finland. Their follow-up effort “Hypnosis” was released in Finland on March 13 2020.

Hypnosis brings forth a matured version of the orchestra, conjuring up musical atmospheres where the presence and intricate communication between the players really shines through. Focusing heavily on the improvisational side of music, the acoustic quartet is on the one hand a rootsy, classic jazz four-piece and on the other a modern ensemble that doesn’t shy away from using technology and taking chances with their imaginative playing. Lyytinen’s delicate compositions offer everyone room to experiment and play to their strengths. Lyytinen and trumpeter Verneri Pohjola form a molecular bond as soloists while bassist Eero Tikkanen and drummer Mika Kallio form the lively groundwork. As the title suggests the album takes its listeners on a trip across the subconscious, time and space.
