Magnum Dopus – The Waiting Game

Magnum Dopus drop the visuals for their new release, ‘The Waiting Game’

Taking cues from the iconic work of Talking Heads, David Bowie and The Smiths, Memphis, Tennessee-based Magnum Dopus has arrived with an intoxicating blend of 80’s New Wave and psychedelic vibes.

The quintet first found its footing in 2017 when Andrew McCarty (vocalist) and George Cole (guitarist) began a series of freeform jams, following the dissolution of their previous band. Throughout 2019, they released a handful of singles and EP’s before defining their sound with their debut album, Hizumi, in December of that year.

In early 2020, the band returned to the studio to record their second album. The sessions were tumultuous, resulting in George Cole taking a leave of absence and a new lineup including Tristan Barton (bassist), Sarah Spain (keyboardist/backing vocalist) and John Floyd (drummer) who handled production duties along with McCarty.

The resulting LP, Suburbanova (released August 20th, 2021), is a powerful take on modern Post Punk with dark Jim Morrison-esque vocals colliding with helicopter guitars and muscular beats.
