The Rain Dogs drop brand new album: Variations (i)

Another chapter in The Rain Dogs journey through the worlds of ambient, minimalist, postrock, electronica, and experimental prog.
Variations (i) is a collaborative project of fretless bass riffs, melodies, and noises, matched with keyboard improvisations and accompaniments, effects, and processing – a joint effort between Gareth Bouch on keyboards and Ian Halstead on fretless bass. The principle was for Ian to record a selection of elements – some melodic, some abstract, using different types of sounds – and for Gareth to take them apart and rebuild them by improvising and structuring keyboards and textures around them.
The result is a lush, unique suite of pieces – diverse yet coherent, and genuinely compelling.
