Scott Linker releasing brand new movie-inspired single, “Gong Li’s Train.”
Scott Linker is a singer and songwriter with a penchant for honest storytelling. His music is actually very diverse and he is inspired by a wide range of influences, adding a unique spice to his sound. Lately, he paid his own tribute to Chinese films, particularly one movie, Zhou Yu’s Train, starring Gong Li. His most recent release, Gong Li’s Train, features a title and song lyrics that are inspired to this iconic cult movie. The style of the composition really captures the imagery of the film, giving the audience a unique insight into the creative process as well as sharing his love for the iconic movie.
The cool train sound at the beginning almost acts as a percussion for the track, but it leaves room for some cool drums and instrumental lines, as well as some exciting vocal harmonies. Scott’s song writing is refreshingly unpredictable, and especially on this track, the slide guitar melodies are really amazing, giving the track an edgy, driven style. The groove has a very energizing feel, with a steady tempo that also has a mellow quality to it. The synth parts at the beginning of the track are also interesting, taking the music to a completely different direction, as well as allowing the song to have a proper intro with a different atmosphere compared to the rest of this composition.
