Raised in the chilled-out, sun-drenched culture of California and influenced by the eclectic voices of hip-hop, classic rock, R&B, and electronica, D.U.S.T.(An acronym that stands for “Doing Underground Songs Together”) brings a fresh voice to the world of contemporary music.
After honing their unique ability to orchestrate heavily synthesized songs into a live band format as part of the short-lived cover band “Sureshot”, the London born duo MC Raja Seivwright, and guitarist/singer Rob McCord began collaborating on original material that fused the heartfelt emotional side of hip-hop with the breezy optimistic side of pop music. The addition of the dynamic rhythm section of bassist Jordan Reading and drummer Keywan Ryland completed the band in late 2014, further expanding the sonic texture of the group.
Whether rocking hard, or laying down a smooth understated groove, D.U.S.T. weaves a versatile tapestry of sound, blending real instruments and melodic hooks with sampled loops, and intense, thought provoking rhymes.
Main influences include: Gang Starr, A Tribe Called Quest, Run DMC, Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, Sublime, Beck, Sade, Linkin Park, Jay-Z, Gym Class Heroes, and The Roots
