Meet Mason McNulty, the 19-year-old Southern California native whose passion for storytelling spans both screen and stage. Best known for his recent country single “Dust” (out May 2, 2025), Mason combines a lifelong love of singing—he’s been performing since age seven—with his acting chops and cosplay creativity to forge a unique path in music. In this exclusive Artistrack feature, he opens up about the heartbreak behind “Dust,” the thrill of collaborating with friends on stage at The Mint LA, and how he balances gaming, family time, and two upcoming film releases alongside writing his next songs.

Now, let’s dive into our conversation with Mason McNulty:

Where are you from?

Southern California

How long have you been making music?

I have been singing since I was around 7 years old. But I have been actually making music for the past year.

How many songs /albums have you released to date?

I have released 1 song called “Dust” which dropped May 2, 2025.

Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it?

The inspiration for “Dust” is from a really bad break up I had a while back. The relationship went so bad and this was my way of healing from it.

How did you first get into music, and what inspired you to pursue a career in it?

I got into music because I actually found it as a way of being able to express my feelings and heal. Putting my words out and being able to hear them has helped me in more ways than anyone will know.

What do you think of the present music industry?

I really like the present music industry. I am a fan of all kinds of different genres.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences and how have they impacted your music?

Some of the biggest influences to me have been Elvis, Jelly Roll, Josh Turner and Brad Paisley. I love their sound and I love singing their music. But…There is one person who I see and work with has been a huge inspiration to me is my producer KThrash. I am always inspired by watching him and just seeing how he is a musical genius.

What have been some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a musician and how have you overcome them?

What has been the most challenging thing to me is just learning how the music industry works. The music industry is a whole different world from the acting world.

How has your music evolved over the course of your career, and where do you see it going in the future?

My music has evolved over my career to help me further my skills in acting. But now that I have been singing at events, I am hoping to do a lot more events where I can sing at. I am loving performing on stage.

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?

I recently collaborated with my friend Reese Warren on a duet song that we sang together at the famous The Mint LA. It was so fun and very special as Reese is like my younger Sis. Reese also is an amazing singer.

Can you describe your creative process and what goes into making a song or album?

The creative process that we go through is a lot of brain storming with writing the song and tapping into my feelings.

Dead or alive, who would be your dream collaboration?

I would absolutely LOVE to collaborate with Elvis. Elvis has been such a huge inspiration to me ever since I can remember when I started listening to music. The other person I would love to collaborate with is Jelly Roll.

What was the first album you bought?

I have not personally bought any albums. I have had a Spotify account for years and it is filled with all kinds of music and genres.

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?

I do not have a collection yet but if I have to look into the future, I would say I would leave in my draw is my first EP, because it is my first of getting into this great big world of music.

What is your favourite saying?

My favorite saying is “Never give up!”

What other hobbies or interests do you have?

My other hobbies and interest are gaming, cosplaying and making music.

Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?

Oh wow…I have a lot happening. I am an actor as well. So, I have 2 movies that will be coming out soon. One is called Mi Loca Quinceanera and the second one is Billy the Kid, Blood and Legend. Not only do I have Dust that is coming out May 2nd but I am in the process of my 3rd song that I will be able to share more once it is closer to being recorded. But no fear, it will be out a lot sooner than you know.

What’s in the pipeline after this project?

Making more of my own music and auditioning for different film / TV projects.

Thank you for your time and may you carry on making great, fresh music. *

Thank you too for having me.
