Iglooghost and daisy*’s Secret Duo Cyst Drop Their Hypnotic New Single ‘Needle’

For ages, the UK underground has been buzzing about a secret partnership between Iglooghost and daisy* (fka BABii). Aside from a few elusive live sets and that one sleazy, hypnotic feature on ‘Spawn01’ from Iglooghost’s Tidal Memory Exo, we haven’t really known what these two were up to together.

Until now. Operating under the name Cyst, the long-term collaborators are finally stepping into the light with a brand-new single called ‘Needle’. It’s a taste of their upcoming debut album, ᲘᲘ (pronounced ‘Rabbit’), dropping via LUCKYME.

What Is Cyst, Anyway?

If you’re expecting the hyper-speed digital chaos usually tied to Iglooghost or daisy*, you might be surprised. Cyst sits in a much scruffier, more nostalgic corner of music.

The project started because the pair got obsessed with going back and listening to the experimental, left-field hip-hop they loved as teenagers—stuff from Anticon, Doseone, and Cannibal Ox.

“We tried to imagine a speculative alt timeline where we tried to become underground rappers after being obsessed with this shit as teenagers,” the duo explained. “We are kind of living this stressful life as failed rappers from UK suburbia, getting shat on by pigeons and cars splashing us with muddy puddles as they drive past the studio.”

That humor and grit is baked right into the music. Instead of sounding overly polished, Cyst leans into a dustier, heavier mix of trip-hop, IDM, and raw beat-making that feels genuinely lived-in and human.

Getting Into ‘Needle’

Following earlier teasers like ‘Knackered’, ‘Needle’ dials right into that moody, weathered atmosphere:
