Cary Park – You Matter to Me

Cary Park - You Matter to Me

Cary Park introducing brand new studio single, “You Matter to Me.”

May 2020 – Cary Park is an artist and songwriter based in Eldorado County, California. His music features beautiful acoustic melodies and a smooth, easy-listening tone, which makes me think of artists as diverse as Sting, as well as Billy Joel, Don Henley, and more.

His most recent studio single, “You Matter to Me,” is a tasteful acoustic ballad, but on a beautifully percussive acoustic guitar pattern, accompanied by some minimalistic shakers and other percussion elements in the background. In addition to that, you’ll also hear some synth strings and other amazing sounds in the background, adding more texture and movement.

Ultimately, Cary’s voice is what really makes the song stand out. He has a down-to-heart attitude, which reminds me of songwriters like Bruce Springsteen or John Mellencamp, but with a more melodic and polished touch that makes his sound all the more relatable.

If you like soft rock and easy listening music with an AOR vibe, this one is for you.

Cary Park Biography

With bloodlines that reach back to the dawn of California country and a forward looking, hard-With bloodlines that reach back to the dawn of California country and a forward looking, hard-charging charging mix of sensitivity and soul, guitarist-singer-songwriter and producer Cary Park is a versatile, accomplished musical force second to none. Named one of Los Angeles’ 10 Best Country/Americana artists by LA Weekly, Park’s dazzling technical mastery, warm, communicative vocals and deftly wrought lyrics combine for a formidable triple threat package. Son of renown Bluegrass Hall of Famer and mid-50’s Capitol Records rockabilly Ray Park (and great grandson of Fred Laam, co-founder of The Happy Hayseeds, the West Coast’s earliest professional country act and one of the first to record for the RCA Victrola label), Park has parlayed this critical musical DNA into one of the most impressive, freewheeling careers in contemporary music.

As an in-demand and celebrated session and touring musician, Park’s credits include playing guitar on Deana Carter’s #1 singles “Strawberry Wine” and “We Danced Anyway,” and Nellie McKay’s “Sweet Mobile Home” and “My Weekly Reader” (produced by long time Beatles engineer Geoff Emerick) as well as extensive road and studio work with a who’s who of country, rock and pop’s finest (Phil Lesh, Blind Boys of Alabama, Johnny Tillotson, Olivia Newton John, The Eagles’ Randy Meisner, Carlene Carter, Paulina Rubio, Kenny Loggins, Chuck Pyle, Lynn Anderson, Maxine Nightingale, Billy Joe Shaver, dozens more). Current television, Park’s musical cues have been featured on HBO’s Real Sex, Naturally with Danny Seo, ABC’s Ocean Treks with Jeff Corwin, CBS’s Vet Pet with Dr. Chris, Pet Vet Dream Team, TLC’s Honey Boo Boo, Animal Planet’s American Stuffers, NBC’s Journey with Dylan Dreyer, The Champion Within, The Voyager with Josh Garcia, National Geographic’s Dr. Pol, Brain Games, Outback Adventures with Tim Faulkner, Dogtown,The Dog Whisperer with Cesar Milan, Wilderness Vet with Dr. Oakley, Rescue Me with Dr. Lisa. Film credits include composing all music for the movie ‘A Cowboy’s Funeral, and writing and performing “Kitty Kitty” for the Dean Cain movie Hole in One.

Widely recognized as one of the premier guitarists working today, Park was featured in Guitar World’s July 2008 “50 Fastest Guitarists of All Time” special issue, has been profiled in Guitar Player magazine and has written articles for the prestigious trade periodical Fender Frontline. Park, who endorses D’Addario Strings and Fender musical instruments, also recently released his first guitar instructional video for MVP. Since his start with brash early 90’s country rockers Boy Howdy, who barnstormed through the country scene, banging out 3 albums that produced a string of top 10 singles for Curb Records and 6 top videos on CMT, Park has gone at music full tilt. Subsequently, Park toured heavily trading riffs with for Jim Messina and as lead guitar for Bruce Hornsby and was regularly featured in the world famous Palomino club’s legendary house band. Along the way, Park got serious about his own music with the critically acclaimed 2010 album Lone, a stunning achievement in deeply emotional, thoroughly contemporary americana music expression. His current release Cary Park 2, is an appropriately impressive follow up, featuring a pair of two outstanding new songs.

A lifelong Southern California resident, Park’s tasteful, deeply felt musical style combines reverent appreciation of country’s rich traditions, a resolute commitment to fresh, creative artistry, peerless instinct and flat-out dazzling capability that lends his hard rocking Americana an irresistible appeal. It’s an unbeatable mix. Recently teaming up with International Concert Promoter/Songwriter Pat Melfi, Park is only just getting started with the release of their mutually penned ‘YOU MATTER TO ME.”.
