Beabadoobee is Back: “Sun Has Set” Brings a Grittier Edge
Beabadoobee is officially back, and she isn’t playing around. With her latest single, “Sun Has Set” dropping today, she’s setting the tone for her fourth studio album, Pylon, which is slated to arrive on September 18, 2026.
After the massive success of 2024’s This Is How Tomorrow Moves, it would have been easy for Bea to play it safe. Instead, she’s leaning into something way sharper and more visceral. “Sun Has Set” feels like a punch in the gut in the best way possible—it’s raw, it’s loud, and it captures that specific, messy energy of finally letting out everything you’ve been holding back.
“Sun Has Set”: The Soundtrack to Your Petty Thoughts
If you’ve ever had a conversation you wished went differently, “Sun Has Set” is going to resonate with you. Bea describes the track as having a bit of “petty tunnel vision.” It’s that moment when you stop trying to be the bigger person and just want the other person to sit there and listen to how you really feel.
“A lot of the songs on this record are things I wish I could have said to someone,” Bea explains. “This song has this petty tunnel vision—it’s like, I hate you. You’re gonna stay here and listen to how much I hate you. Because I never got to say that.”
The production is just as aggressive as the lyrics, packing in distorted guitars and a pop-punk-inspired chorus that feels like a throwback to the best 2000s alternative rock. The video, shot by her partner Jake Erland, is just as striking, using a first-person, slightly surreal lens to highlight that sense of internal chaos.
What to Expect from Pylon
The album title itself, Pylon, feels deeply personal. It’s a nod to those massive electricity towers you see while driving on the highway—a symbol of the weird, bittersweet feeling of moving between places and missing home while on tour.
It’s clear Bea is aiming for something big here, and she’s brought some heavy hitters along for the ride. The Pylon tracklist is stacked with collaborators like:
-
Hayley Williams (Paramore) on the track “Nothing to Prove.”
-
Brendan Yates (Turnstile) on “Powerlines.”
-
Appearances from Chino Moreno (Deftones), Evan Stephens Hall (Pinegrove), and Shane Moran (Title Fight).
-
Production from Matty Healy and George Daniel (The 1975) on “Write Me A Letter.”
See It Live
To back up the new record, Beabadoobee is heading out on her biggest tour yet. The Powerlines Tour is going to hit arenas across North America, the UK, and Europe this fall. If you’ve seen her live before, you know she brings a different kind of energy to the stage, and these new, guitar-heavy tracks are going to sound massive in a packed venue.
