Liana Flores Shines with Glamorous New Single “Silvershoes” and Announces Upcoming EP
If Liana Flores’ breakout 2024 album Flower of the Soul felt like a warm, sun-dappled afternoon, her latest release is stepping out into a glittering city night.
The British-Brazilian singer-songwriter is officially back with “Silvershoes”, a sparkling pop-infused single that arrives alongside news of her upcoming EP, And so it goes…, set to drop on September 4 via Verve Records.
From Hollywood Waitress to Silver Screen Dreams
True to form, Flores isn’t just serving up a catchy melody; she’s telling a story.
“Silvershoes” puts listeners right in the shoes—literally—of a Hollywood waitress. When she catches sight of a pair of gleaming silver shoes, it sparks a vivid daydream about a totally different life. It’s a song about ambition, hope, and that bittersweet ache of longing for something more.
The track’s inspiration actually comes from Virginia Postrel’s book The Power of Glamour. Flores leaned heavily into a specific sentiment from the text: “Glamour gives us pleasure, even as it heightens our yearning. It leads us to feel that the life we dream of exists, and to desire it even more.”
By channeling that thought into an infectious rhythm, Flores nails that universal human habit of wondering what if.
Bossa Nova Meets the Big City
Flower of the Soul pulled in over 84 million global streams with its delicate, quiet bossa nova chords and indie-folk charm. But And so it goes… is shaping up to be an entirely different beast.
After spending time touring the globe and making the big move from rural Norfolk to the constant hum of London, Flores found herself inspired by the pace, the people, and the glamour of city life. She teamed up with Grammy-nominated producer Paul Butler (Michael Kiwanuka, Lord Huron) in Los Angeles to bring this new chapter to life.
As Flores puts it: “This record is the story of the country girl moving to the city. It’s bossa nova meets pop, inspired by the people, relationships and glamour of city life.”
“Silvershoes” is the perfect bridge between those worlds. You still get that intricate, breezy guitar playing and poetic storytelling, but it’s wrapped in a sophisticated pop sheen that begs to be played on repeat.
What’s Next for And so it goes…?
Landing on September 4 via Verve, the six-track EP looks ready to push Flores’ artistry into exciting new territory. Expect a tighter, bolder blend of bossa nova, folk, and infectious pop hooks that highlight her unique bicultural perspective.
Whether you fell in love with her through her cozy indie tracks or you’re just now catching the sparkle of “Silvershoes,” this is easily one of the most exciting releases to watch out for this year.
