Militarie Gun Team Up With Mannequin Pussy for Infectious New Single “World’s Always Burning”
If you thought modern punk and alternative rock couldn’t get any more collaborative, think again. Militarie Gun is back with “World’s Always Burning” featuring vocals from Mannequin Pussy’s Missy Dabice.
The track is the first taste of the newly announced deluxe edition of Militarie Gun’s sophomore album, God Save The Gun, dropping on August 7 via Loma Vista Recordings.
Inside “World’s Always Burning”
Left off the standard tracklist because frontman Ian Shelton felt it pointed toward a brand new creative direction, “World’s Always Burning” marks a sharp pivot from the intense internal focus of the original album.
As Shelton puts it, the song captures that jarring feeling of “finally coming to after being so caught up in your own head, and then realizing the rest of the world is still out there and you haven’t been actively participating.”
Musically, it’s packed with the driving guitar work and sharp hooks fans expect, elevated by Dabice’s fierce vocal chemistry alongside Shelton. Lyrically, though, it tackles modern exhaustion and distraction head-on. Shelton explains:
“I can’t say whether or not the world is actually ending, but it certainly feels like the sense of community in the world is all but dead. I wanted to write about all the things we’re tricked into arguing about so politicians and technocratic fascists can get away with whatever they want.”
