Daniel Walzer, Associate Professor of Music and Arts Technology at IU Indianapolis, has released Hoosier Songs, a contemplative new album that weaves field recordings from across Indiana into lush instrumental compositions.
Spanning six tracks recorded between 2022 and 2025, the album draws on ambient, new age, world music, and jazz influences to create an evocative soundscape rooted in place. Walzer layers piano, marimba, vibraphone, and percussion over environmental sounds captured throughout the state, crafting pieces that feel both meditative and alive with texture.

Walzer collaborated with a group of skilled musicians and co-produced the album with Matthew Parmenter, who also handled mixing duties at Ice Cream Factory Studios in Austin, TX. The album was mastered by Streaky in Oxford, UK. Hoosier Songs was made possible by a grant from the Arts and Humanities Institute at Indiana University Indianapolis and is available now on all major streaming platforms.
