Interview with ‘Kejuanservin’

ArtistRack catches up with North Carolina based Kejuanservin for this exclusive interview and an insight into the upcoming EP release ‘Mode’:

Where are you from?

Winston Salem North Carolina

How long have you been making music?

For at least 8 years but I didn’t really start dropping until this year consistently I wanna take it to level and elevate

How many songs /albums have you released to date?

20 songs out right now 1 ep otw!

Can you tell us about your latest release and the background and inspirations behind it?

So the ep “Mode” that’s coming out is going to have 8 tracks total really it’s just about having fun for me and living life I just wanna be in place where I can do that and that’s where the word mode comes from for me in order for me to do that I gotta get in that mode grind this out and in the long run it’s all gon pay off.

How did you first get into music, and what inspired you to pursue a career in it?

Honestly I seen people my age blowing up and I started thinking about like if put my all into this 1 year of dropping and promoting music consistently non stop I know I’ll find my fan base out there somewhere somebody’s going to like it and that’s how you gotta think about it when you just now coming in fresh for every person that don’t like your music I guarantee 10 other people out there do you just gotta find your fan base that’s what made me pursue it.

What do you think of the present music industry?

Honestly I don’t know I’m not really into the industry news and shit so I don’t really know how to feel about it like I don’t care about it really I just wanna make my music.

Who are some of your biggest musical influences and how have they impacted your music?

Man it’s so many people that’s influenced my sound but you really wouldn’t think so like I listen to all types of genres underground mainstream alternative ambient I even like listening to bands like current joys Lol they so hard but I’ll put duwap kaine in there g herbo texako playboi carti glokk40spaz slimesito young nudy lucki thouxanbanfauni like bro it’s so many people slime dollaz the list could go on and on I also listen to the band duster I had to add that in there they music beautiful like music is therapy for me so I love it all.

What have been some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced as a musician and how have you overcome them?

Really just trying to find my fan base and I honestly still ain’t overcame that yet every day I’m scheming trying grow my brand I don’t wanna just be an artist I wanna be an icon I wanna have a clothing brand stream on twitch or whatever do YouTube I think I even wanna act I wanna do it all

How has your music evolved over the course of your career, and where do you see it going in the future?

Really it’s more so the sound I have that’s evolved I’ve been trying to perfect it I know im never gon get it perfect but that’s the beauty of it it’s never gon be perfect so ima always be trying to improve it change it experiment with it expect that in the future

Who have you collaborated with so far in your career?

I’ve worked with all my homeboys that rap with me and trust me they hard I wouldn’t hop on track wit if I thought they was trash Lol but to name Gtb mike, Lul troop, luh guddah, middnht, morelewis and they all on SoundCloud right go peep

Can you describe your creative process and what goes into making a song or album?

I either smoke a blunt or two or hit the cart or dispo either or I get fried before I find a beat I like on YouTube unless I bought one from somebody already I put it on my phone or computer depends on what I feel like recording on at the time and I get on there and say what comes to mind what I’m feeling at the time or something that’s done happened in my life already and I speak on it. This is all done in my room in the dark pitch black it helps me get in that mode.

Honestly I wanna say glokk40spaz but I wanna do a song with lucki and slimesito too not gon lie I wanna do a song wit all the people I listen to that would be so fye

What was the first album you bought?

I ain’t never bought an album and I don’t remember the first album I’ve ever listened to not even gon lie

What’s your favorite song at the moment?

We got Rich of servin my homeboy be sayin that shit all the time now it be funny

If you had to sell your music collection tomorrow, what album would you leave in your draw?

Probably Days B4 III by Lucki

What other hobbies or interests do you have?

I be playing the game streaming on twitch coolin and I’m just now starting to get into cars I gotta 03 Acura rn had the helltima but I got in accident lol but when I get more money I’m def buying me a nice lil Lexus some crazy smooth shit

Tell us more about your upcoming project or this new project?

Mode is my first ever ep like this actually a milestone lowkey lmao I ain’t even realize I can’t wait to put it out putting everything into money promotion all that just wait

What’s in the pipeline after this project?

Definitely more music wayyy more and more music videos I got 2 out right now more streams maybe YouTube videos too and more experiencing life and living it
