Kiera Lyons announces the release of her latest album, ‘Hiraeth’
Kiera Lyons is a 17 year-old singer-songwriter who’s been writing music since she was 7. “Hiraeth” is defined as “a homesickness for a home to which you cannot return, a home which maybe never was; the nostalgia, the yearning, the grief for the lost places of your past.” But comparing homesickness to hiraeth is like comparing a drop of water to an ocean. And that is the feeling I tried to capture in this EP. The universal feelings of looking back on our past, and sometimes our future, with bittersweet, mixed emotions, and longing to reclaim what we’ve lost, but never being able to. Kiera’s style is eclectic, a mix of the various genres she has listened to and admired growing up, including edm, indie, singer-songwriter, and radio pop. In addition to having a vocal range of over 5 octaves, Kiera plays guitar, piano, ukulele, and violin.
