Quavo and Pharrell Keep the Momentum Going with “Trance (Walk It Down)”

Quavo is keeping his foot on the gas. Fresh off turning heads with “HAAVIN,” the Atlanta heavyweight just dropped his latest single, “Trance (Walk It Down)”.

It’s the second taste we’re getting from his upcoming solo LP, QRÖMELIFE, which is entirely produced by the legendary Pharrell Williams. If these first two singles are any indication, this album is shaping up to be a serious shift away from standard trap formulas and straight into heavy-groove territory.

The Sound: Inside “Trance”

While “HAAVIN” made its iconic first impression soundtracking Pharrell’s Louis Vuitton menswear show in Paris, “Trance” is built explicitly for the club floor.

Pharrell loads the beat up with heavy 808s, knocking hi-hats, and sharp percussion. But what really catches your ear is the subtle nod to old-school dance culture—the track leans on a slick interpolation of Shannon’s 1983 classic “Let the Music Play.”

Instead of forcing a heavy-handed rap verse over a retro rhythm, Quavo glides right over the top. He sticks to his signature melodic delivery, anchoring the whole song with an addictive, repetitive hook built around the “walk it down” refrain.

Talking about what it’s actually like going into the lab with Skateboard P for this full project, Quavo put it best:

“Working with Pharrell means you need to be versatile — a sound bender, a wave creator and a trend setter. He levels you up.”

Yacht Living in Marbella for the Visuals

To bring the record to life, Quavo teamed up with director Daps to co-direct the official music video.

True to the upscale, confident energy of the QRÖMELIFE era, they shot the visual out in Marbella, Spain, bouncing between a luxury mountainside villa and a private yacht. It’s sun-drenched, high-fashion, and leans hard into the kind of elite lifestyle background that fits a Pharrell-produced club record.

What’s Next for QRÖMELIFE?

Ever since his 2023 tribute album Rocket Power—which served as a deeply personal project honoring Takeoff—fans have been waiting to see where Quavo’s head is at musically.

Teaming up with Pharrell for an entire album feels like a deliberate reset. It’s focused, experimental, and clearly designed to push Quavo into new artistic territory. We don’t have an official release date for the full project just yet, but with “Trance” and “HAAVIN” out in the wild, the rollout is moving fast.
